Occupational Hand Therapy

Austin Hand Group is proud to provide in-house hand therapy services for our patients, while also welcoming referrals from outside providers. Our Occupational Therapist, Kaycee Merrell, OTR, CHT, has completed advanced training in hand therapy and earned the distinguished Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential.

 

Offering therapy in-house allows for close collaboration between our Occupational Therapist and Dr. Lown, ensuring careful monitoring of each patient’s progress and a more coordinated approach to recovery. This team-based care helps patients return to daily activities, work, and their prior level of function as efficiently as possible.

 

Our staff is also available to assist with scheduling, insurance benefits and eligibility, and cost estimates for therapy services.

Kaycee Merrell, OTR, CHT

Certified Hand Therapist

Kaycee Merrell is a licensed Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) with over 8 years of specialized experience in upper extremity rehabilitation. She delivers individualized hand therapy to help patients regain function and return to daily activities.

Her expertise includes the management of fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, arthritis, and repetitive strain disorders through custom splinting, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and functional retraining.

 

Kaycee earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science from Texas State University and her Master of Occupational Therapy from UT Health San Antonio.

 

Kaycee pursued advanced specialization in hand therapy, completing the requirements to earn her Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential—an elite distinction held by only a small percentage of occupational therapists nationwide.

 

A proud Texas native, Kaycee is committed to patient-centered care in the Austin community and values the integrated team approach with Dr. Lown, combining surgical precision with expert rehabilitation for optimal outcomes.

 

Outside the clinic, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
